From One Workshop… To A Global Movement

What started as a simple idea became something much bigger than we ever imagined.

Back in 2006, Bhangra Empire began with a small group of dancers in the Bay Area who shared one goal: bring the energy, culture, and joy of Bhangra to more people. At the time, workshops weren’t part of the plan—we were simply performing, competing, and sharing our passion wherever we could.

But after performances, people kept asking the same question:

“Can you teach us?”

So we said yes.

The first workshops were small. A local dance studio. A school gym. Community events. People of all ages showing up to learn not just choreography—but the feeling behind Bhangra.

Word spread.

One workshop became ten. Ten became fifty.

Soon we were traveling city to city—teaching students who wanted more than just steps. They wanted connection. They wanted culture. They wanted community.

Today, Bhangra Empire workshops have reached dancers across the world.

From California, New York, Texas, and across the United States to London, France, Australia, Pakistan, Dubai, and beyond, we’ve had the opportunity to teach thousands of students and share Punjabi culture on a global stage.

What makes our workshops different isn’t just the choreography.

It’s the experience.
